The Scientific Board carries out activities defined by law and the Institute’s statute, in particular:
identifies and implements the science policy of the Institute;
discusses and decides on scientific and professional issues;
adopts the Institute’s annual work programme upon the Director’s proposal;
considers and submits a preliminary opinion on the Director’s report on the execution of the annual work programme and budget;
carries out a part of the procedure for appointment into scientific research grades, if the institute has been authorised for this procedure;
proposes to the Board of Directors to pass a by-law on additional conditions for appointment into scientific research posts;
carries out procedures of appointment into scientific research, associate and professional work posts;
appoints and dismisses members of the Institute’s Board of Directors, in accordance with the law;
proposes the Institute’s budget to the Board of Directors;
proposes to the Board of Directors nominees for a committee that elects the Director of the Institute;
discusses and submits a preliminary opinion in the procedure of adopting the statute and regulations adopted by the Director, in accordance with the statute;
carries out other activities pursuant to the founding charter and the statute of the Institute.
