The Board of Directors of the Institute consists of five members.
The president and two members of the Board of Directors are appointed by the Minister of Science, Education and Youth, one member is appointed by the Institute’s Scientific Board, and one member is appointed by the Institute’s employees.
The Board of Directors of the Institute:
- gives the Director prior consent to sign contracts for legal transactions exceeding EUR 40,000.00 in value
- proposes changes in the Institute's activity and status to the Founder upon proposal by the Director
- adopts the Institute’s mission, vision, and development strategy
- adopts the program agreement proposal
- adopts the Institute’s financial plan
- supervises the execution of the Institute’s financial plan and the management of financial resources in accordance with the Law and the Statute
- adopts reports on the execution of the Institute's financial plan (semi-annual and annual reports) submitted by the Director and makes related decisions in accordance with applicable legislation
- decides on establishing other legal entities of the Institute, with the consent of the Founder
- appoints and dismisses the Director and assistant directors
- adopts the Director’s annual report
- makes individual decisions regarding work posts as a second-instance body
- gives the Founder, Director and Scientific Board proposals and opinions regarding particular issues
- approves the Director’s appointments of heads and deputy heads of research departments
- approves the Work Ordinance
- approves the purchasing plan
- approves the Institute’s Work Program
- approves the decision of the Scientific Board to issue calls for internal grants for research projects
- approves the decision of the Director regarding the funding and selection of projects participating in calls for internal grants for research projects
- approves the decision of the Scientific Board regarding the selection of emeriti researchers
- supervises the implementation of the decisions made by the Scientific Board and the Director that were approved by the Board of Directors
- conducts other activities in accordance with the law.
