From December 2 to 3, 2024, Zagreb hosted the International Conference on the Economics of the Decoupling (ICED 2024) for the sixth year in a row, which brought together experts from the fields of economics, sustainable development, energy, and environmental protection. The conference was held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zagreb, both live and online, and provided an opportunity for international cooperation and knowledge exchange. During the two-day event, about 100 registered foreign and domestic participants had the opportunity to participate in 11 panels with many presentations and lectures. In total, almost 90 papers were submitted, of which 68 were selected for presentation, dealing with current topics in the context of separating economic growth from negative environmental impact. Discussions covered key challenges in the implementation of green policies, energy efficiency, sustainable tourism, green innovations, and the role of digitization and artificial intelligence in economy, as well as innovations in circular and digital economy.
Our researcher, Valerija Botrić, PhD, presented the paper "The flip side of the green transition: prevalence of dirty jobs in the Croatian economy", written in collaboration with her colleagues Ivica Rubil, PhD, and Marko Ledić, PhD, as part of the "Labour Markets and Well-being in the Context of an Ageing Population" (TRADSTAR) project funded within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026. - NextGenerationEU.

Valerija Botrić, PhD, team member of the project "Labour Markets and Well-being in the Context of an Aging Population" (TRADSTAR), financed with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026. - NextGenerationEU, participated from November 11 to 12, 2024, in the conference "Migration and identity: culture, economy, state" in Zagreb. This international scientific and professional conference was organized by the Institute for Migration Research (IMIN), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Our researcher gave a presentation "Does citizenship affects labor market outcomes of foreign-born youth in EU countries?", which deals with questions of how citizenship affects the employability of young people of foreign origin within the EU.

TRADSTAR project manager, Danijel Nestić, PhD, continued with the project implementation and activities within the project (funded within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026 - NextGenerationEU). At the 58th symposium of the Croatian Association of Accountants and Financial Workers, he presented some of his findings on the topic of the macroeconomic view of salaries in the public sector in Croatia to the professionals, scientific and general public. The overarching theme of the symposium, which was held from May 23 to 25, 2024 in Bol on the island of Brač, was "Salaries, sustainability reporting and adjustments in the management of public companies upon joining the OECD". The traditional symposium is a place for acquiring new knowledge, meeting and exchanging experiences of accountants, auditors, professionals and scientists/researchers with the aim of improving accounting and auditing practice.
