Perspectives on Local Governance across Europe

Commissioned by: Technical University of Darmstadt
Project duration: January 21, 2021 – July 31, 2022
Project managers: Sunčana Slijepčević, Dubravka Jurlina Alibegović

Summary
We will analyze the scope of influence of local state-society networks on local development in European countries. We will investigate the two-way impact, thus looking at how much the local government supports different local state-society networks, but also the scope of impact of different members in the local state-society networks on local development. The research will be based on the results of the conducted survey across European countries, and therefore the subjective perceptions of different local stakeholders will be observed. Special attention will be placed on the analysis of the views of stakeholders from those local state-society networks that play an important role in the implementation of European policies at the local level and in reducing the disparities in local economic development.

The result of this international research will be an edited volume "Perspectives on Local Governance across Europe", edited by Björn Egner (Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany), Hubert Heinelt (Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany), Jakub Lysek (Palacký University Olomouc, The Czech Republic), Patricia Silva (University of Aveiro, Portugal) and Filipe Teles (University of Aveiro, Portugal). The edited volume will be published by Palgrave, as part of the series "Palgrave Studies in Sub-national Governance".
