Visiting scholars
Potential visiting scholars (assistants, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral candidates, scientists, and other researchers) can reside at The Institute of Economics, Zagreb if they express their interest in visiting the Institute with the aim of conducting research.
Visiting scholars should submit the following application documents:
- A cover letter explaining why they wish to visit and reside at The Institute of Economics, Zagreb; providing further information regarding their planned research; and explaining the mutual benefits of cooperation between the Institute and the candidates
- A research proposal (max. 3-4 pages long) presenting the research topic, analytical framework, a short literature review, and the methodology to be used
- Curriculum vitae accompanied by a list of publications
- A statement explaining the candidate's cost coverage during their stay in Zagreb
- Recommendations (not obligatory).
Criteria to be considered upon selection: quality, originality of the proposed research, and the candidate's CV.
Advantage will be given to candidates who have previously established contact with researchers from The Institute of Economics, Zagreb, who have recommendations, and who plan to publicly present the findings of their proposed research.
Visiting scholars can reside at The Institute of Economics, Zagreb from 1 month up to 12 months. The Institute will provide suitable workspace, a computer (if required), e-mail address, internet access, library and databases access. The Institute of Economics, Zagreb does not undertake any commitment regarding the financial obligations connected with the visiting scholars' residence at the Institute.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. All valid applications will be taken into consideration by the Director, who, upon internal consultations, will make a decision on the acceptance of the candidate and appoint a host from The Institute of Economics, Zagreb. Candidates shall be informed of election results within a month following the complete submission of the documents.
