Project goals were scientific and expert examination, verification and elaboration of the justification of investing in the applied innovation development in order to increase competitiveness and accelerate the integration of the Croatian economy in the global innovation processes. That was in accordance with the provisions and conditions of such investment project co-financing contained in the Europe 2020 Strategy. The goal was to concretise the vision, mission, features of products/service as well as organisational structure of the Innovation Centre, Zagreb, as an infrastructural project that should catalyse the efficient networking of relevant stakeholders in the frame of the Croatian innovation system. In accordance with the Framework research and development services were defined as the major activities in the project implementation. Relevant economic, institutional, commercial and financial factors were identified through these activities. On the base of secondary and special survey research and interviews collected and processed primary data descriptive and inductive methods of statistical data processing were carried out. This resulted in a thorough macroeconomic analysis of market and social environment with the specific microeconomic analysis of the business, break-even point analysis and the financial sustainability of the Innovation Centre Zagreb. This project confirmed justification of the investment in the establishment, construction and development of the Innovation Centre Zagreb as one of the key infrastructural preconditions for the accelerated development of the Croatian innovation system with the production of applied innovations as high value added products.
