City specialisation and labor productivity in Southeast Europe – BaRaBaS

Brief outline:
Project goals: 
The primary objective of the research was to recognise and differentiate patterns of specialisation and diversification of city classes by city size and examine its links to urban productivity in South-East Europe at the end of the first decade of the 21st century.

Results/outputs: 
The research answered the following questions: 1. What are the differences in the scope of economic activities across cities? 2. Can a pattern of specialisation be observed across these cities in terms of activities? 3. Can specialisation be linked to economic efficiency of firms via labour productivity?

Activities: 
Database analysis, attending workshop, writing the reports and research article

Methodology: 
Multivariate analysis methods, specialisation indicators and methods of spatial analysis.
