The aim of the project was to adapt and operationalize the implementation documents of the EU and International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) within Croatian conditions. Furthermore, it was necessary to collect and process the economic data necessary for the preparation of the Danube Basin Management Plan, according to the program defined at ICPDR level. The project included the following tasks: 1. Analysis of the economic elements of the EU Water Framework Directive, and in particular the role of economic analysis in river basin planning and management; 2. Conception of the guidelines for the implementation of the economic part of the EU Directive and inclusion of economic analysis in water management planning in the Republic of Croatia; 3. Development of operational program for the implementation of the first phase of economic analysis for the needs of the Danube basin management plan in Croatia; 4. Collection and processing of the necessary economic bases for the Danube basin according to the prepared operational program.
