Summary:
The main goal of the proposed research was to collect and present data and information on the characteristics of creative and cultural industries (CCI) in the counties of Istria and Šibenik-Knin (ŠK), as well as to analyse their importance for the county and national economy. The research presented characteristics of the CCI sector in Istria and ŠK counties and gave the assessment of the economic contribution of the CCI sector to the Istrian and ŠK counties and the Croatian economy. Given that an important part of the CCI sector consists of public cultural activities, directly financed from public funds, an analysis of public allocations for culture from the state and local budgets was conducted. In addition, bearing in mind the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed social and economic life, causing numerous difficulties in everyday life and business, a special part of this research was dedicated to examining the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on CCI sector in Istria and ŠK counties. The research focused on the impact, resilience and adaptation of the CCI sector of the Istrian and ŠK counties to the effects of measures introduced to restrict spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic.
